This styled editorial took place on the historical streets and beaches of St. Augustine. Our goal was to create beautiful inspirational images for the bride who wants to be non-traditional without sacrificing the romantic element of her portraits.
It stormed for three straight weeks before Tim & Mollie's engagement session in St. Augustine, but the rain did not stop this couple! We got wet and did some Notebook inspired photos that are some of my favorite to this day!
Flat Lay may seem insignificant in the grand scheme of the wedding day, but these little details are just as important. Each one was thought through and planned out, and executed with love. They are party of the wedding story, and deserve to be documented.
Fun fact about me: my favorite place in Florida is Cocoa Beach. When Kaitlyn reached out about doing her engagement session close to them (they live in Melbourne) I said absolutely! She even wanted beach photos, which couldn’t have made me happier! They’re my favorite kind of photos.
She wanted two different looks. A casual one with greenery, and a classier one on the beach. Several places along the space coast filled this criteria, and I was excited to explore with them! Unfortunately the weather wasn’t very cooperative the day of the engagement session, so we had to do it several hours early and we only got one location.
It couldn’t have worked out for the better. We may not have gotten golden hour, but the photos speak for themselves!
I decided to do their session at a small beach south of Cocoa Beach. A little one called Pineda Beach, right by the space force base. It had a spot for greenery, a bathroom for her to change, and a coastline free of the hotels that Cocoa Beach is usually known for.
Kaitlyn warned me that her and Steven were not photo people, but I would beg to differ! They did absolutely amazing during their session, and Kaitlyn told me after that even Steven enjoyed himself.
Her ring is a family heirloom, and she expressed to me that she didn’t have any photos of it. So I broke out my macro lens and had some fun. She absolutely loved them, and even shared with me that her sister asked on Facebook if she’d gotten a new ring because it was so pretty!
We finished our session just in time. As we both drove away, we were hit with the rainstorm that had threatened the original session time. It couldn’t have been more perfect.
