When I met these two, I knew we were going to have fun. I always ask my couples ’how did you guys meet?’ I love hearing couple’s stories. In Brandon’s case, a friend introduced him to Alysha, claiming she was ’super single’. It became a running joke between the two, and certainly made me laugh.
I’ve shot at Silver Springs several times before, but never have I ever had a golden hour as gorgeous as this one. It was absolutely breathtaking. Brandon & Alysha were pros in front of the camera, and barely needed any guidance at all. They only had eyes for one another, and it shows in their photos.
Their wedding was a destination one, since Alysha’s family lives down here in Florida, but they both live in Oklahoma. They came down for the holidays, and that’s when we did the engagement session, only a couple days before Christmas. It’s one of the things I love about Florida, because you certainly can’t tell these photos were taken in late December.
As I do with all my couples I photograph at Silver Springs, I had them both stand in the loop of the Good Luck Tree. It’s a palm tree that has formed a loop. Legend has it, that if a couple stands in the loop, they’ll have good luck for five years. It’s always fun to capture this.
While Silver Springs State Park is well known for it’s glass bottom boat tours, the park also had plenty of other things to offer. I love doing engagement sessions here, and Brandon & Alysha’s photos are a great example why.
